Aston Martin V12 Vantage S 2014
It almost looked as if we were missing out. Great Britain got the Vantage V-12 Roadster, a roofless version of the 510-horsepower entry Aston. Meanwhile, continental Europe received the Vantage SP 10, a special V-8 Vantage S that commemorates the GT4 racecar. Jealousy was kicking in until Aston Martin unveiled V-12 Vantage S for everyone. The new model completely replaces the base V-12 Vantage and comes equipped with the upgraded Vanquish engine, offering up a 55-horsepower boost to easily crack a four-second 0-62 and a top speed of 200 miles per hour. Outside the One-77, it’s the fastest Aston ever built for the street. It also gets the Vanquish’s three-stage adaptive damper with Normal, Sport and Track modes. The dampers work in conjunction with another button-activated Sport mode which heightens the throttle response, exhaust notes and gearshift speed and timing. Gone is the six-speed manual, but we gain a new, automated manual transmission, offering faster shifts in a lighter package. It’s enough to make other Vantages jealous and keep us content.
